Mac mini,small but great
I love this computer, small footprint easy to set up , and it works great. I would recommend this computer to any one that wants a Mac and does't want to spend a lot of money.

Love this small computer great for a developer using Boot Camp
The Mac mini is great purchase for anybody that has a computer already. I bought the Mac mini for use to develop an iPhone application. I'm a developer I have several computers already and wanted a low-cost Apple Computer to use for dual-purposes. I wanted to add both operating systems on one computer. I used Apple's boot Camp which allowed me to do this. I was a little bit skeptical that this wasn't going to work. I was really surprised that both Snow Leopard and Windows 7 installed very easy with no problems. If you're a developer and already have a computer this purchase maybe right for you.

I did have to purchase an Apple keyboard because when a disk ejects it is controlled by the computer keyboard. Also if you're using a Microsoft upgrade disk it will not install because there is no way of ejecting the disc to validate your installation. You have to make sure that you have a full version of your operating system for you to install on boot Camp. I was so lucky that I had so many different version of operating system that I found one that I was able to install and then upgraded it to my upgrade copy of Windows 7 upgrade version. Also note Microsoft will not support and install on Apple Computer when you call their technical support. Also note I'm really skilled developer your can download a free copy of my free shareware program at [...].

All in all boot camp is wonderful to use by Apple no problems at all I wish that they made a quad core mini. You can also purchase a USB creative 5.1 sound card if you have 5.1 speakers this also works on both operating systems very easy with no need to install drivers but you can still install them if you want. Also my USB Logitech mouse worked with no problems at all.

Mini packs a whallop
I bought this to replace an appletv that I was unhappy with in my HTPC setup. For that it is almost overkill... it easily handles anything I throw at it when connected to an HDTV, such as running Boxee, Plex etc., plus it is a real computer unlike the appletv so I can have it do anything else. Excellent value and I may have to buy a couple more for my family and friends. Being able to boot into Windows 7 or run it in a virtual machine is also convenient for those games or apps that haven't seen the light and come out with a Mac version- especially since it comes with 4GB RAM. One thing I was particularly impressed with is that the Mini, or Snow Leopard, or both, natively recognized the screen as an HDTV connection through my MiniDV>DVI>HDMI adapters so I didn't have to tweak any video settings whatsoever and the HDTV essentially acts like a very large computer LCD display. The plethora of ports is also great. Pair it with a wireless keyboard and mouse and an Apple remote and you're basically in HTPC nirvana.

I'd recommend this little box as a great purchase for anyone looking for a cheaper way to dabble in Apple computers to replace or supplement an old PC (with a much smaller footprint, too), a supplementary Mac in your house, a replacement for any PowerPC Mac, or anyone wanting to create the ideal home theater PC setup.

Sold my Macbook and got this!!!
I edit movies in Final Cut Pro and iMovie for weddings, documentaries, and even commercials. My Macbook was the early 2009 edition which was really great. However with the need for a bigger monitor and a faster processor for SDHC video editing I decided to sell my macbook and move towards a faster Mac. I looked at the prices for the Macbook Pro at $1,500 and then I looked at the specs for the top model of the Mac Mini and they were the same except you needed to buy a monitor and keyboard. Well I already had a high definition monitor and a macally keyboard and mouse. So this was a no brainier. I am still in shock at how fast the computer is vs it's size. It is the faster computer that I have owned I would say. I have owned 3.0 GHz computers in the past but it's the Core 2 Duo processor and the 4 gigs of DDR 3 Ram that make this thing an explosive machine. This mac mini can do anything just about. It is the best deal for a Apple computer right now.

Mac mini - a very good small computer

A very good system for individuals with basic computing needs and an excellent base station for the family's iPhones or iPods. If you are passionate about gaming, you probably aren't looking here in the first place, and should probably be going with a PC. But for basic games this Mac mini does just fine.

+ No monitor, keyboard or mouse is included. You can use what you have, or purchase whatever you want. You are not paying for items you may not need, or may be replacing with something else.

+ The Mac mini doesn't have the crapware you find on new PCs, just like all Macs.

+ Quiet

- No HDMI output. You can get a Mini Display Port to HDMI Adapter, however the Macs at this time did not transmit audio data along with video from the Mini-DP. So you need to get audio by other means (audio line-out minijack, USB, FireWire, or a wireless method).

- No commercial Blu-ray playback. This is a Mac OS X issue, not just Mac mini. You can play these, however you need to boot into Windows, have the proper PC-only software, and of course a HDMI monitor.

- Power cord is not firmly attached when connected to case. This is probably a bit picky; however when I was connecting a flash drive to a USB port, the little push of the case unplugged the Mac mini. I know the cord was hooked on something, however it does disconnect from the case quite easily. I've now connected a USB extension to the case to avoid this problem.

Overall, I am very pleased with the Mac mini.
